About Lihai
Urban Shaman Lihai Sherman has been a teacher and coach for 20 years, handling select private clients and learning and growing in knowledge and modalities. During that time, Lihai has also amassed a phalanx of talented, capable coaches, trainers and experts who together are capable of covering a wide range of success skills. Through My Urban Shaman, he is opening his practice to a wider audience with classes, courses, personal coaching sessions, Webinars, and writing, as well as connecting others to this constellation of success-producing stars.
Lihai Sherman has always been the kind of person who others confide in. He has lots of funny stories about people doing just that without invitation, like the taxi driver who, while driving, handed him some of his mail to read as evidence of his legal woes. He's listened to thousands of people since he was small, and offered such words of comfort, advice and wisdom as he could, at first only because that seemed to be what was expected. Over time, he developed an obsession with philosophers and success strategies in order to better serve the needs of those who so often shared their pain and hopes.
Lihai has hunted the urban jungle along with everyone else, rising in corporate work to a six-figure salary and senior management roles. At the same time, he has cultivated a devotion to retaining a sense of his spirit in everything he does. This has often been a hard, lonely road, but along the way he's taken to encouraging others to do the same because of the tremendous benefits he has experienced as a result of his own personal work. Privately, among his loved ones, Lihai is always one to listen, and then reflect back to each person that they're a wellspring of spirit; that in each of us, and underlying all our endeavors, lies a soul that is ultimately the point of everything. Above and beyond advice given, or aid extended, the most important thing he has to contribute is the reassurance that the divine in us all is constant.
Spiritually, Lihai was never much of a joiner. He loved to explore philosophies, paradigms and religions and mine them for their gems of value and power, but he chaffed at the confinement, mental and otherwise, of dogma and hierarchy. It therefore took quite some time for him to do more than skim the surface of many modalities of spirit and personal empowerment. His more rapid progress began with the more broad-minded paradigms of Anthony Robbins' Neuro-Linguistic Programming teachings, and Taoism as related by Bruce Kumar Frantzis. In these systems, Lihai was finally able to build on a stable base of philosophy and practice.
Lihai first capitalized on his natural talents in subtle experiences as a telephone psychic in Columbus, Ohio—a job he held full time for three years. From there, his psychic practice developed in parallel to his corporate employment path, which traced through graphics and Web site design into project management and administration, and finally financial analysis and portfolio management. He kept up a private practice as a psychic and later a channel and medium, keeping his circle of clients close. His work as an empowerment coach, however, grew inside of both channels: In the more esoteric fields, it grew as spiritual support and shamanism; in the corporate field, it took the form of developing best practices for being a supervisor and manager. He subsumed challenges with extensive research and training, whether dealing with negativity, kick-a** presentations, sales, communication, financial and statistical analysis, business structuring and innovation, public speaking, event planning, and others; he learned to leverage medical qi gong, tai ji, nei gong, NLP, chakra balancing, and meditation throughout. Underlying it all was his passion for maximizing efforts, and finding spirit in, or instilling it into, everything.
He began to take on the Shaman role in earnest when friends asked him to officiate at their wedding. He saw this as the Universe's first unsolicited call to serve as a spiritual leader, and he took on the new challenge by spending a year building what he believed to be the spirit of a ceremony that would induct all participants into a sense of their noblest selves. The occasion was met with great appreciation. He had once feared he'd have to retreat from the normal rhythms of life in order to study under an acknowledged Shaman. Instead, he decided to work with spirit guides and collect the most gifted and successful colleagues he'd yet met into a mastermind group; they advised him to pioneer the pathway of an "urban shaman," cultivating methods for spirituality outside of any one dogma in order to serve the great many of us who choose urban life, and the often hectic, high-pressure nature of that path.
He has spent his time since developing both more ceremonies and a life coaching practice to support others on a similar path in a unique way. Specifically, he wants to help as many people as possible build a persona that is resilient to challenge and pressure, resourceful and companionable with others, and to suffuse all of their works with spirit. Instead of countless one-on-one conversations, Lihai envisions a kind of on-going rap session in which powerful concepts are used to help groups practice, train and challenge their members to ever greater achievements.
